The Snakes Head Fritillary, a beautiful addition to any garden.
Most bulbs prefer free draining conditions, where as for the Snakes heads, they like it on the wet side. So this makes it the perfect plant for this part of the world.
Bowing their heads to the arrival of spring, these exotic looking flowers are a welcome sight in March and April.
Checkered purple and white bell shape flowers reaching to approximately 15 – 30cm in height, are true gems dancing just above the ground. So you have to be a little careful where you place your size 10 boots this time of year…. a little note to self.
Like their namesake, many snakes have a venomous bite and the Fritillary bulb is poisonous to bite on.
